Blog as a communicative tool

Blog

Under communicative tool, we learned about blog. Today I will talk about using blog as a communicative tool. According to the online oxford dictionary, blog is “a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, which is written in an informal or conversational style.” It is a page or platform where individual person can write and share their thoughts, feelings, opinions or experiences on a particular topic. Now a day’s blog is becoming viral in social media to maintain their personal dairy, share articles and advertise the work. It is important for all to maintain blog as it has become a useful tools for any kind of work.

As a teacher it is our responsibility to teach students about maintaining blogs since blogs offer many benefits for education. Firstly, it promotes autonomous learning by providing opportunities for students to take more control of their learning. Secondly, it motivates students to become better readers and writers. Thirdly, it promotes discussion among students and lastly, encourages the use of the Internet and the Web among students (and teachers).

I created my blog to post related to what I have learned in ICT. I followed the steps from video that my tutor uploaded in virtual learning environment and I enjoyed creating my own blog. I learned a lot while creating blogs. I came to know about applying the themes for my blog, how to post the articles on my page, adding videos, creating links, sharing image, deleting and editing my post. I am still learning about this blog as I add articles and post it to public. When I am stuck with how to go on with blogging, I directly search information on internet and you tube where I follow the instruction and learn about it. I feel this blog is one of the important tools for us as we can express our feelings and information, get information, and it also help us to write.

Reflection on Co-constructive tool

6th reflection
In the particular session, it was mainly focused on co-constructive Tool, how to integrate the co-constructive Tool, importance and various examples. For the first, few minutes we went through the notes on co-constructive Tool provided by our tutor. From that, I clearly understood the meaning of co-constructive tool, which states that it is an applications that support the construction of knowledge through a shared understanding (collaboratively consolidate the ideas). Some of the examples are: Google docs (docs.google.com), electronic whiteboard, Blogs and wikis, discussion forum on portals (pce.edu.bt), etc.

The importance of Co-constructive tools are: Even after posting, we can also co-edit the same document from anywhere. Very easy to do group work, Communicate database, texts & graphics, Enhance collaborative learning environment, identify and develop expertise, most importantly communicate on any issues with peers and tutors.

Under co-constructive tool, sir asked us to create group on Google Docs. At first we had trough time since we were using Google Docs first time. We have to create account and invite our friends in group. Finally with the help of our tutor and friends I learned how to use Google Docs. It is very useful to all the students and teachers especially to college students. In college, most of the time we have to do group work. We have to fixed time to gather and do our work. Sometime very difficult to gather due to our personal work. So, if we use Google Docs to do our group work, it will be more convenient. We can do  anytime from anywhere and co- edit the same work together. provides a platform to interact and share our thoughts and understanding. Just now we are doing one assignment in which we have to prepare a detailed lesson plan on the ICT primary school curriculum in group. We are using Google Docs to write lesson plan and I found it very helpful and effective.

It is more convenient for us to do our assignment using Google Docs.

Reflection on video

Today I watch one video on information and communication technology and found it important so, I am going share about the video.

After watching this video I came to comprehend that Information and communication technology (ICT) is crucial for improving student learning and the best teaching methods that we can use in our class. The ICT in education is the mode of enhancing, supporting and in calculating information within a short phase of time as there will be diverse learners in the single classroom. Students discover better with different learning styles and techniques.  Using ICT in the classroom helps to accomplish the different learning styles of each individual. Through ICT, we can teach them in different ways to craft the concept clear. For example, we can play an audio tape for those who could not obtain information through images and the video clip. Moreover, we can also illustrate a PowerPoint presentation to make things more clear. With the use of ICT in the classroom, all learning becomes possible. Therefore I found that the integration of ICT is important to compose learning easier.

reflection on ICT as constructive tool

Reflection 4
During this period we have learned about the constructive tool. We have learned that constructive tools are an application that helps the learner to manipulate information, visualize ones understanding and construct one's own knowledge. The constructive tool includes Microsoft word, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, social networking sites, etc. These too, helps the learners to construct their own understanding, foster critical thinking, motivates and allows the students to be an independent learner.
The constructive tools emphasizes on students’ need to construct their own understanding as well as this tool firmly state that learners are the maker of meaning and knowledge. Similarly it also mentioned that learning is more effective when a student is actively engaged.  In addition, it also focus on fostering critical thinking, creating motivated and independent learners
The examples of constructive tools are:

1.    Concept map program

Its allow users to brainstorm and to visualize their understanding of relationships among a collection of concepts.

1.      2. Desktop publishing program

This allows users to organize and present their ideas in an attractive format.

1.     3.  Words, spread sheet and PowerPoint

It allows users to organize record, manipulate and present their ideas in an attractive in the form of memos, reports, letters, presentations, record routine information.

Another example of constructive tools are;
  • Electronic bulletin boards/Moodle
  •  DPT/In-designs/MS Publisher
  •   Multimedia authoring tools
  •  Social networking sites (Blogs/face book/ twitter)
  •  Simulations
Under constructive tools we did one interesting activity in which we have to design one page simulated advertisement to attract visitors using PowerPoint presentation program. I have never heard about simulation before. When sir asked us to design simulation on unique culture in our locality, I was worried how to make. So, I went through different sources and I knew how to create simulation. From this activity, I gain new knowledge and it was fun to learn.
